Dylan P here!

Our group went canoeing today. I was in a canoe with Harry and Josh L. First we had to put our buoyancy aids on, and then we drove to the canal. We got in our canoes -my canoe was called Titanic. (I hoped we didn't crash!)
We paddled down the canal to a bridge where we did some challenges. I found it quite easy to canoe because Josh was really helping me. We learnt how to turn around in the canoe and go forwards.
We found a forest a have dinner in. We cooked marshmallows on the fire! YUM!
We canoed back to the mini-bus.
I would give this day 10/10. It was phenomenal!

Dylan H and Morgan M here!!

We all worked as a team today, we went hill walking. We saw lots of stuff like mushrooms, ferns and wild ponies. The puffball mushrooms exploded and all seeds came out. We saw a dam (a huge wall keeping water in one place) it was 156ft tall and it was 1790ft above sea level. We saw icicles and it was damp. Many people fell over, as we lost the path and there was lots of hay. We found it difficult to get our feet out. We learnt that to go down a hill safely we need to walk sideways so we don't fall over.
We saw lots of sheep bones, such as skulls.
It went really cold as we stopped for lunch as we weren't moving. Miss showed us an emergency blanket- like a tent to show us how it would keep us warm in an emergency. The hot chocolate warmed us up.
I would give the day 8/10.

Hilston Day 2

Bella here reporting from Hilston Park.

Today was a fabulous day here at Hilston Park. First of all we all went down to the dining room and prepared our packed lunches for the day. Although most of us were awake some still looked like they were half asleep and destroyed from last night’s ghost’s story at 10pm. (Spooky!!!) We were all excited for today's amazing activities!
I was in group B with my friends Libby and Laurie. We all climbed the climbing wall after a couple of attempts.  Then we went down to the cellar to put our kits and back. (E.g. helmets.) After that we came to a door that said NO ENTRY and our instructor Dan walked out with bows and arrows. They looked so cool! We marched to the archery range. Dan showed us how to hold the bow, how we put the arrow on the bow and how we aim and shoot.
We all had tried it out and some of us were really good. Libby was so good she kept on getting a bullseye, then I was getting the hang of it. Dan split us into two teams, I was in the second team. When we was all good at it we had a contest. First I was really bad at the start then I got better and got the high score but on the last round Harry H beat me by two points. Miss Lewis came third.

Well that’s it for now, see you next Monday!!

Hilston 2013

We have all arrived at Hilston and are having a great time. Today we played team building games and fired rockets. It was great. Tea was lovely too!! (As always)
The children are now playing games, which is nice to see, as they are all talking to each other.
Got to go now - want to do our work in the classroom before I'm a celebrity starts.
See you all soon.

Anti Bullying Week 2013

This week in school we are raising awareness of the effects of bullying.
Ewan Hatherall, Dylan Prendergast and Holly Jenkins made this short video using poems they had written.
We hope you enjoy it.
